Get to know your surfing Instructors

Ben Ridding

I have been a Surf Coach for over 10 years now, and was a Senior RNLI Lifeguard for over 5 years. I was also the founder of the Watergate Bay Surf-Life Saving Club and am an active member of local sea and beach based community events.

My volunteering extends to the training and development of new and existing RNLI lifeguards, and supporting a variety of surf events, such as the Student Nationals.

I take my job very seriously, so endeavour to ensure that I am fully qualified and seek to update my qualifications annually. It is vital I do this so that we can genuinely offer you the best experience possible. Therefore I am a Surfing Great Britain accredited Instructor, a Surf Life-Guarding Great Britain Beach Lifeguard and am CRB checked, whilst additionally certified in Safeguarding and Protecting Children.

I have travelled and surfed extensively all over the world, from Indonesia to Australia, from Central and South America to Europe. I spent two winters working at a Moroccan Surf Camp, and Life-Guarded for a season in Western Australia.

When not surfing I enjoy fishing and cooking - I am currently perfecting my skills involving fishing off a surfboard!

As we are based and affiliated with the iconic 4 star Headland Hotel, Fistral Beach is literally on our doorstep. Take a look at the details opposite to find out what the waves are doing this week and time you session so it fits in with your surfing capabilities. If you have any questions about what conditions are best for you or if you do not understand any of the surfing phrases then please feel free to get in touch as we are always more than happy to help.
