£14,000 holiday hits Cornish shores for city slickers

Wave goodbye to budget beach breaks...the UK's most expensive weekend package is now on offer- for a cool £14,000.

Families or friends of up to six are whisked away by luxury limousine to a £5 million private jet, which flies them from any British airport to Newquay in Cornwall. From there, they are taken by a stretch Mercedes to an eight-bedroom mansion - complete with jacuzzi, swimming pool and natural waterfall - on a secluded cliff top overlooking the sea.

Guests receive one-on-one surfing lessons, and meals at celebrity restaurants in the area including Jamie Oliver's 'Fifteen' and Rick Stein's 'The Seafood Restaurant'.

The lavish retreats are the brainchild of Cornish-based surfer Ben Ridding, who says £14,000 is a "drop in the ocean" for rich families or city slickers.

Ben, 26, who runs 'Surfing Is Therapy' holidays, said: "I was surfing in America on a tight budget, when I noticed all the hundreds of wealthy city types who visited the beaches every weekend.

"These guys were spending tens of thousands of dollars on the best accommodation, the best tuition, and the best food.

"I then realised that nothing exists like that in the UK - and decided to do something about it.

"These holidays are the result of that desire - they're ultra-luxurious breaks for wealthy executives to whom £14,000 is a drop in the ocean. The surfing lifestyle can have a massive benefit on the lives of city based high flyers"

The package deal, which will be available from July, costs £14,000 for six people sharing.

It includes a transfer to the nearest airport by a luxury stretch Mercedes, and flights to Newquay Airport in a six-seater private jet complete with personal air hostess.

Passengers on the flight will receive an unlimited supply of organic foods, drinks and sparkling wines from Cornwall.

When they arrive, the guests are ferried to a mansion in Falmouth, which boasts eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and landscaped gardens with a natural waterfall.

They will also receive private surf lessons on Watergate Bay beach, a secluded stretch of sand near Newquay.

All meals during the day will be prepared by a chef and delivered to the holiday home, while evening dinners are booked at some of Cornwall’s exclusive restaurants such as 'Fifteen' and 'The Seafood Restaurant'.

Despite the hefty price tag, Ben says the experience is worth "every penny" for well off families.

But he said the firm does cater for smaller groups or families on a tighter budget.

He said: "I accept the holidays are more expensive than normal weekend breaks, but they really are worth every penny for the level of luxury guests receive.

"We can also tailor all our holidays to suit any budget or taste."
